You can google 'spot price gold' anytime. Gold now is $809/ounce. A jeweler will tell you up front that they pay (for example) 10% below spot or whatever.

These gold places usually won't tell you, but they seem to pay about 90% below spot.

Go to a jeweler with your junk (that they will probably also send to be melted/refined) and you'll be happier: true value of your junk gold or you get to keep it (never leaves your sight).
