You also should mention that Examiner.com asks writers for information (including their full legal name and social security numbers) so they can do a "background check" on them for criminal records. This should be a huge red flag for anyone. In this day and age, you do not send your legal name and social in an email to people you've never met. That's all they need to steal your identity. As a professional writer, I have never been asked to submit to a background check before, especially for such pitiful pay for my work.
